Need help buying a power amp!!!!

Hey guys, due to a previous thread I have decided I need to switch from a Fender bassman 300 tube head to a power amp and a pre amp. I have the pre amp picked out already but what I really, really need help with is selecting a power amp in my price range.

I play in a band that is just bass and drums, and we like to play LOUD. Im running 4 cabinets in my current rig:

2 Avatar 2x12's and 2 Avatar 4x10s - all which are 8 ohms.

I'm looking for a power amp that would be well suited to run these cabinets at high volumes, my problem in reasearching is that I do not know about dampening factor, etc, what makes a good power amp suitable in a bass rig, that would be able to power my 4 cabs for pretty much any type of gig(minus a stadium of course).

If anyone could make suggestions on a power amp for my current rig that costs about $1000 or less, that would be awesome. I'm really looking to be able to buy new too, as I have a few upcoming gigs and would really like to have it for then, as opposed to buying on on ebay.

For $1000 or less the world is your oyster.

Want low weight? Get a QSC PLX2.

Don't mind the weight? Crest CA9.

Don't really want to spend $1000 but want a rock solid performer that is absolutely clean? QSC RMX.

Get whatever wattage you want in your price range. Remember, you can always turn down but you can only turn up so far.

i bought a Stewart World 1.6 new for around $700. 600 watts a side at 4 ohms and 1600 watts bridged at 4 ohms.

for under $1000 you could probably grab the World 2.1 or the one above that.

i am very pleased with the amp. early on the cooling fan starting making noise. in a display of slight drunkeness, i smacked it and the noise stopped. it still works great!

Light yes, but only 4 ohms per side. What if you change or, heaven forefend, ADD cabinets? Question: why are you worried about weight with 4 big cabs? :p :p :p

IMHO, you need a Crest CA-9 or similar lead sled. Heavy? Yes. High damping factor, handling 2 ohms? Yes. Power? Yes. Do a search and check stickies.
