Need help choosing new Rig

Ok so I'm in the market for a new rig;here's what i know i want

-two 2x10 cabinets (on the light side if possible)

- a lightweight high powered head.

-500 or 600 watts would be ideal, anything more seems overkill,

so money isn't a super big issue, but i'd like to keep it affordable.

I play in a progressive metal band and i want the bass to have a tight, not boomy low end.

Would two avatar 2x10's be good for this?(8 ohm)

As for head i've narrowed it down to either markbass or genz benz pretty much. looking at the LMIII, SA 450, shuttle 6.0 or shuttle max 6.0. The markbass's vle and vpf controls seem interesting, and the shuttle max has all the bells and whistles i could want, for not much more price.

anyone thoughts/suggestions?

A few months back I went to "two", 8 ohm, Avatar Neo 210 cabinets for a vertical stacked 410 rig. I'm driving them with a new G.K. MB2-500 head.
The group I'm working with is a LOUD 6 pcs., country/rock group, I use FOH for probably 50% of the places we're playing.
This set-up is great!!!
LOUD, full, portable, great dispersion, great projection, great cut, use one cab for rehearsals/small gigs, both when you need more volume and coverage.
I'd suggest your also looking at a G.K. MB2-500 head along with the other heads you mentioned. The G.K.'s power is unbelievable! Got mine new for $499.00.
Depending on how "loud" the progressive metal band that your working with is I'd also suggest your thinkin' about a 8 ohm Avatar Neo 410 and a 8 ohm Avatar Neo 210 cab. A 610 rig maybe better for what your doing.

Carvin has 2x10's that many rave about the low end from, and a micro Head that goes down to 2 ohms.

it's not quite the wattage you want, but i'm nuts about that micro vr. that and two 210av's will kick for most stuff. the avatar stuff isn't a bad way to go either. but everyone makes a good 210 now and everyone makes a good micro head. but i do still think that markbass and genz benz reign supreme as making the best and most innovative micro heads. all a matter of taste.

A pair of vertically stacked 210s is my favorite cab setup, (but since my head won't sit nicely on the short side of a 10 I use a single larger cab) and any of the heads you named will be great.

Did you ever thought of a TC-Rebelhead? It's weight is 4 kg and it sounds great and fits any kinds of music. You should give it a try.

what shoot-r said got me thinking, so now i'm looking at getting an 8 ohm avater 4x10 neo, and adding a 2x10 later, and the shuttle max has caught my eye. thanks for all your thoughts/suggestions
