Need help! Good 6 string bass under $1200

Best all around 6 string bass, new, ibanez btb776 or you could spend an extra couple penny's and grab an ibanez sr1206 with nordstrands and all that hooplah. Both awesome and versatile basses. The BTB 676 isn't bad either. Also there's the ibanez sr506 and 706. All are pretty good. I like ibanez lol I haven't really found any other good 6ers in that price range. Someone said the bongo, but even used, those tend to go 1500. Carvins are really nice too. Also it's not idea to check out the ESP 6ers. From what I've seen, their quality is getting better

The Ibanez SR506BM I have right now is my absolute favorite 6-string I've ever touched. I got it for $350 on eBay. It has tone for days and days, plays like a dream, and looks totally killer. I loved my Warwick Thumb BO 6 also, but then again I paid $1000 for it. The SR506BM is the best value bass I have ever snagged, regardless of number of strings. I'd look for one of those used, buy a new set of your favorite strings, then pay a good tech to give it a setup tailored to your preferences and put the rest in the bank for a rainy day. No need to spend $1200!

I have never played one but have heard nothing but good about them. Tight string spacing on those though.

Actually it's not that bad an axe for $500. I just didn't feel like changing the bridge and pick ups shich isn't really that big a deal. I did get compliments on how it sounded. It was time to upgrade so I bought the Fender that I have now.

I heard the new Ibanez SR 6 string model with the Nordstrand single coils in the music store the other day. That thing sounded incredible, very BTB like but has the SR profile and weight. I just may to consider one of those. Very impressive.
