Need help identifying these flats (purple silk)

These and Fender 9050s are my favourite flats to date. These for old school tone and the 9050s for a more versatile/modern tone. I use the 45-95 light set. They're now 5 years old and well settled in. Now they feel so slinky and smooth. Plays like buttah!

These are wallet friendly LaBellas & you can still string them through the body without having to get another set of strings. You can also wind the unsilked portion of the string around the tuner without it snapping.

Warm, very punchy, and nicely balanced across the strings. Thermonuclear low-mids that can get addictive in a hurry. Wonderful feel on the fingers. These usually sound best on a Precision but otoh are absolutely perfect on my naturally very dark sounding MIJ Jazz. They aren't coming off till they either break or start having tuning/intonation issues. Love these strings!

Pyramid flats? Although the color on the silk was a shade lighter

the Optima flats on my Framus have purple silk

Pyramid and Optima... Don't they have silk at both ends?

Thank you! Any thoughts on these? I’ve used TIs in the past but not on a P. These are very different but I like them.

I have them on my talman p/j and I love them. Great feel, nice tone, and the purple silks look royal

Why do GHS Precision Flats end up with the metal wrapping onto the tuner post on the E string?

I noticed this when I had a set on my P Bass. I figured they should fit the bass fine, given their name.

Their winding length (ball end to silk) is longer than most at 38", which is long enough to accommodate thru-body installation on a 35" scale. They're constructed in a way it never is an issue for the full winding on the E to wrap around the Fender-style tuner post.

Does this apply to ³/₈" diameter tuner posts as well? I've always had a concern about that.

Obviously, the smaller the diameter of the tuner post, the more problematic it becomes when the full winding of a flatwound E string wraps around the post. I can only speak from my experience, which is limited to my Fender P bass.

One thing I can tell you is the GHS Precision Flats are more pliable (= less brittle) than the La Bella DTF when it comes to being able to wrap around the tuner post or to be strung thru-body.

I’ve been using 45-105 GHS P flats since the late 1980s. I’ve tried other strings but always take them off quickly. I like the tension of the mediums. I feel that the lighter ones would be too sloppy for me
