Need help: Just got first pedal

So my first pedal just showed up, and I wasnt aware they used batteries. I just assumed they were powered through the amp. I love up how to power them and I need a 9v battery, and the guide I found also said to use the cable included. But there was no cable. Was there supposed to be? I have no idea what sort of cable to plug into the outlet on this. Any help appreciated.

what pedal did you buy, and did you buy it used or new?

Most pedals run a 9v via battery or plug in. There is something called a one spot that has the ability to plug up to 5 pedals in and power them all with one outlet; it is a cheap way to go if you plan on getting more pedals.

I never use batteries to run my pedals because they drain really fast and you need to unplug the 1/4" from them to keep the battery from draining, even if the pedal is off.

OK, you need two instrument cables, one from bass to pedal, one from pedal to amp. There should be some instructions to install the battery somewhere, maybe online on their website. It varies from manufacturer to manufacturer...sometimes they have a door for it, sometimes you have to unscrew the back panel. Once you find it, installing it is self-explanatory.

The 1-Spot is a universal power supply that works for most pedals that use a 9v battery, and it'll supply a crazy amount of pedals. I've used as many as 8 effects off a single 1-Spot.

I didnt see anything on their site about it, so I emailed them. I unscrewed the back but didnt see any place for a battery. It still looks like it has an idividual outlet for the battery to plug in some how? Or am I getting this completely wrong?

Ah, it DOESN'T use a battery! Some manufacturers are eliminating batteries from their designs...I guess they're one. And if it says there was a cable included to power the pedal, it should have been included. I'd contact the manufacturer tomorrow about that.

And now that we know it doesn't allow a battery, better make sure it uses a 9v power supply...the 1-Spot is 9v, but if it uses a higher voltage, you'll have to get the appropriate supply.

It looks like it can't run on batteries. Also I would remove those photos, if the manufacturer catches wind of that they will void the warranty...

It does say 9v right below the input on the pedal, so thats a good sign right? And I didnt see anything specifically saying these came with any sort of power supply, I only saw that on some general tutorial. But I did email them. I'll have to revisit this tomorrow sometime. I need to wake up in about 5 hours for jazz band:dead:

Ok, so my local guitar center has a 1-spot in stock for 20$, and Ive got a 15$ giftcard :D

But before I go out and buy it, is this all I need? Does the 1-spot itself plug directly into the pedal? Or is there another chord I need that goes from the 1-spot to the pedal?

It should be all you need. The 1 Spot comes in two flavours though. One is just the 1-Spot, the other is a bit more expensive and comes with a daisy chain cable and adapters for more finicky pedals. If you plan on getting more pedals, get the one that comes with all the cables. That will enable you to power multiple pedals off of a 1-spot.
