Need help on a possible trade.

A guy locally has this bass up for sale. I have no idea if it’s real or if it’s worth what I’m offering.
Here are the pictures he has:

he is wanting to trade this to my Jack Casady and an old Silvertone guitar.

Can you guys help me out. I’m out of my leave here.

Looks kinda like a Squier Bronco (or even home made) with a home refinish job (and not a good one) and a Fender neck plate attached. What is he saying it is?

I have no expertise to share about it because I know nothing about Bronco basses, but if I really wanted a Bronco, I’d just buy a Squier for a hundred bucks and at least know what I’m getting. Isn’t a Jack Casady worth about $800 new and $500-600 used? With all due respect, that bass in the photos looks like firewood to me.

Ok thank you. I just don’t have any experience with these and needed this advice.

That looks like a refinished Fender Musicmaster bass from the 1970s (1974-75) although i'm not certain.

Are you saying he wants the Epiphone Jack Casady AND Silvertone from you? I wouldn't call that a good deal.
Agreed, doesn't seem like a good deal. IMO the Jack Cassidy is likely worth more in resale and is probably a better bass anyway. Again, just one opinion. If you're wanting something different you'd likely be able to resell the JC easier than the maybe-a-Musicmaster.

Not for nothing but does he have it listed anywhere and if so, how much money is he trying to get for it?
Obviously refinished, can't remember the last time I saw a Fender or Squier neck that color...and doesn't a refinish devalue a vintage bass?
Seriously, wouldn't it have been better as a natural relic?
Other than that, is there anything special about the Musicmaster bass, other than looking quirky/cool?

Hahah yeah the musicmaster just looked cool, but the neck situation is why I got so nervous. He says it has stamps on the neck and said I was welcome to come take it apart.
I have had the Casady for years and just don’t care for it. I’m gonna sell it regardless. I’ll just sell it and keep an eye out for something to get.

It also depends on what you mean by “old Silvertone guitar.” If it’s one of the more recent overseas made ones, that’s one thing but if it’s a Danelectro made Silvertone or something along those lines, that can have some decent value as well.

I should have specified. It was either the Silvertone or Jack Casady. It’s actually a L1413 which seems to have some value.
I forgot to add that the seller wants $995 for the Musicmaster.
What I think we're trying to tell you is that the dude is trying to take advantage of your lack of knowledge and pull a fast one on you. Sell the Cassidy and find a decent Epiphone or Squier etc to replace it for probably what yours will sell for.
