After 40+ years of playing live without effects, I'm incorporating some into my setup. I've tried the search function, but can't seem to find what I'm looking for. Is there a thread discussing using effects live? My current soundman just plugs into the back of my SVT, but I'm assuming that he is getting a direct signal without effects. What are my options for getting my sound, with effects, to FOH. I know that miking my cabinet is one option, but would like to know what my other options are. If there is a thread discussing this, please let me know.

Thanks!

If he is using the DI on your amp and you run all your effects in front of your amp then your effects will be put through the FOH as well. The only thing that wouldn't be is your cab. The only way to get your cab to FOH is with a MIC. If any of your effects have a boosted signal you might want to make sure you run those in a sound check. I had one experience when I didn't and when I kicked on my effect it blew out the stage monitor.

Thanks. I don't know why I thought that running a DI off the back of the amp would exclude effects. Good to know about the boosted signal. It's not an issue now, but who knows what the future will bring.
