Need help replacing the battery in my Fender MM!

Hey guys, I'll get straight to the point.

I own a Fender MM4 and I've been trying to change the 9V battery cell to no avail. The battery that came with it was a Fujitsu 9V. I've tried using Energizer 9V batteries but non of them fit! Its like... They don't 'snap' together where their supposed to!

Any help would be greatly appreciated (even though I probably sound really silly right about now)

I have a gig on the 10th this month and I don't want my battery to die on the gig itself!

You are weak and it's time to turn in your man card.

Joking! let me guess, the basket terminal (-) on the battery fits the small terminal on the connector, but the connector basket won't fit on the small terminal (+) of the battery. This is a common problem with new 9V connectors, especially better quality connectors; the basket terminal is good spring steel for a good connection. You just need more pressure to snap it on. I dont know anything about the battery box on an MM, but if the terminals are loose on wires can you pull them out so you can get more pressure on them? If so pull it out as far as you can and snap the basket on the connector on first, angling the battery terminal and 'rotating' it into place. It can take a lot of pressure, but loosens up the more you change the battery. You can also squeeze two of the for tabs on the basket with needle nose pliers to bend them a little but it's spring steel and they may break if bent too much.

Absolutely spot on! Thanks for the help! The first time I tried to change the battery I didn't dare to apply more pressure because I thought that there MIGHT be variations in 9V batteries, but that didn't seem right. Today I tried changing 'em again and I used more pressure this time and it still didn't click, which is why I made my way here at TalkBass to seek help.
