Hi everyone, I'm a complete newby when it comes to pedals. I've never really used any ever, as I usually play in a ska/funk band. In my new band, I'm playing a sort of progressive rock. So, I need you effects experts to help me out here.
I'm looking for a fuzz/distortion pedal, with a really nice growl. Something similar to Tim Commerford's tone in Bulls on Parade: Bulls On Parade - Rage Against The Machine - YouTube
I've been told that all of these are good, I was hoping maybe some of you can speak on their behalf:

I've heard great things about the modded rat, but I don't think they're made anymore. I was also told the Tech 21 Sansamp was really nasty sounding.
Thanks for any help you guys can offer! Also, if it matters, I play a Musicman Stingray through a Markbass 2x10, and for bigger gigs I hook the Markbass up to my GK 4x10
