Need help tracking down a legendary bass.

View attachment 4032738 I had one of those in red back in the 80s, serious neck dive but otherwise a pretty nice bass.
I still have the stripped body and neck of mine in my garage. Probably the worst ergonomics of any bass I’VE ever came in contact with. Can’t play it sitting down without a strap, too heavy and nose-divey, yada yada

but had one heck of a ringing sustain with that metal neck.

Edit: but it looked pretty cool for the time.

awww man... you should have posted it like two weeks ago!

i was at an auction and this exact bass was up for sale and there was a huge bidding war between Master Shake and Frylock. The price was up to $250k until Karl came in and used it to smash a bunch of 8-bit aliens trying to destroy Earth.

Sorry to say, but that bass was sacrificed to save the Earth and exploded in the process.

That's the only way I would consider this bass "Legendary"

If this were mine, I'd store the original body and make (or have made) a new body and build it out with that neck. ;)

It's a Kramer XKB-10 body and neck from the early '80s.
The original string-through bridge has been replaced with what looks like a Hipshot A style.
The original pickup would have been a DiMarzio humbucker that's been swapped out for a Tele-style Basslines (Seymour Duncan) single coil.
Chicken head knobs aren't original and the paint isn't either. These don't increase its value.
"Legendary"? No. I can't think of anyone famous who played this model or a recording where this was showcased.
"Unique"? Yes.
Excuse me, Chicken Head Knobs Absolutely Increase the Value!
