Need Help With A FireWire Solo Problem

So I just bought an M-Audio FireWire Solo so I can record onto my Macbook Pro. The Problem is, the interface won't send the signal out to the headphone jack so I can hear myself play. It records and sounds decent, but I would like to be able to use it as a mini practice amp too so I don't disturb people. I'm a freshman in college so I can't really play through my regular amp without disturbing people. It seems like this is a simple problem and i'm just missing something crucial. All I want to do is plug my bass into the front input and be able to hear myself when I plug headphones into the headphone jack. Please, if anybody knows what I should do, HELP!

Thanks for the advice. I read something about DAW, but as i've never had anything like this before, I have no idea how to go about switching things. Theres no Mic/line switch, although there is an input select for the front and rear outputs. I don't think that's really a problem though. How would I switch what i needed to with the DAW?
