need help with BOSS OC-2

I was jamming with my boss oc-2 pedal and for some reason it suddenly started giving off a weird sound, like a constant humming.. the hum changes its note when i play the bass and it wont stop humming. I noticed when I unplug the cables and reconnect them with the OCT1 set off, no humming is made (and no effects either).. but as soon as I crank up the OCT1 knob, the hum returns.. and it wont track anymore. Has this happened to any of you? I need help.

change the battery?

check your power supply, isolate the pedal and try it off a separate 9V adaptor, if using batteries change them. If all else fails then maybe its time for it to go to the Boss graveyard.....
