Need help with neck issue..

Hi,
I am having an issue with what i think is the truss rod. I have an epiphone tbird and my top (E) string has been going out of tune when i strike it. After further examination i noticed that the neck is curving down near the head. Im a newbie when it comes to truss adjustments, but i am also a working musician...so i have no cash to get this looked at. I am wondering if anyone has any words of advice or instruction on how to fix this problem. Fyi: i am downtuned to C, and am using 105 gauge strings. Thanks in advance for any help

For clarity sake... when you say strike (odd choice of verbs) the E string goes out of tune, as in the bass does not hold tune? Or you hit this string so hard it goes sharp before settling back to pitch?

A bow as you described in the neck can be adjusted by tightening the truss rod. Try 1/4 turn clockwise, retune and check it. This will remove the bow in the neck. repeat as needed.

The bow in the neck should not effect the basses ability to hold tuning. You might have a couple of issues here.
