Need Help with PA bi-amp/daisy chain/pre-post whatever

My bands started using this Carver with the Yami mixing board and it was fine, then I got the QSC from a friend and used that when the Carver didn't sound right. Then the QSC sound wasn't good. I had each amp looked at separately and they were cleaned and deemed ok. The Carver makes loud noises and clips out so we now use the QSC exclusively. But the volume is at full blast and we barely hear the singer over the drums and other instruments. I've tried other mic's and speakers and they didn't help. I haven't tried a new mixer yet.

I got these peavey MMA's today from another buddy. They came out of a school. Can I patch them all together (35watts each) to get a good powerful sound? What is the sequence they would go together? Would I still use the Mixer and/or the QSC?

sounds like that your amp doesn't match your speaker power. try fixing that in the only way i know how and that is replacing the amp and matching spec to spec.

the other thing it could be if things don't sound clear (eq aside) is the mixing console. try a different one that's not behringer. this isn't a hate on Behringer, its more my experience with them.

if that doesn't work out, it seems that you need to upgrade your pa. if you are running bi-amp i assume also that you are using NL4 cable, not 1/4" or NL2.

It's hard to tell looking at the picture, but it appears you have the master sliders on full. Typically they should be about halfway and the levels on the amps should be cranked. If the sliders are on full you are likely overdriving the signal to the amps and clipping.

The peaveys are architectural amps. They are typically used when multiple low power speakers are used throughout a room or building. While they may work, they are not optimal for your application and I doubt they would add much for your purposes.

The mixer isn't your problem and a new one won't change much at all. The 35W from the Peaveys isn't even worth considering when both the QSC and The Carver are putting out several hundred watts each. Dave is on the money when he says it's likely a gain structure issue. There's a decent read here:

If you're still not getting enough vocals through your PA after optimizing the gains then I would start to look at what your speakers. Or perhaps I would look at turning down the instruments a bit : )
