Hopefully someone can help me out here... I just bought a Tascam DP-02. I have never had my own recording equipment and so I am new to all of this. I bought this one, well, mainly because I got a good price on it, and I wanted something simple to just lay down some tracks to practice with and save ideas, without being hooked to the computer. Anyway, I've been plugging right into the unit via the instrument imputs, recording, then burning a CD of it afterwards. The problem I'm having is that the level seem very low compared to a regular CD, and especially in the car, where I have to crank the stereo to hear it. The bass seems to be the biggest problem (though I will use it mostly for guitar). I know I have a lot to learn with mixing it and all of that stuff, but we ran a live band through a mixer into a DP-02, and I sounded nice and loud...Do I need some type of preamp to boost the signals? I haven't tried the mic imputs yet, but I fear that they will be the same..Is there some type of gain boosting box out there or something? I'm using a 5 string active for the bass parts. Any ideas or suggestions would be great..thanks!
