Hi Gang,

I have a customer who asked for my assistance in finding a replacement jack for his Hohner B2V bass. It's a Steinberger-looking thang, and he loves it.

I told him that if we couldn't find one here, than we won't find it anywhere...

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Andy

The B2 series of hohner headless basses use flush mount panel jacks, very common. You can get them on Ebay all day. I have about 30 in stock unless he has some strange 1 off jack.....LMAO

I don't suppose you have any contact information, or anything like that...

One idea- if you could spot one on ebay, I could show him a picture, and he could either get one there, or from you, if you'd let us know how to order one from you, that is.

LMAO.

Thanks,
Andy

Flush mount panel jack from StewMac.

These are not robust. They are not reliable. Doesn't matter who the manufacturer is. They break, they get replaced. How long they last is dependent on use. Consider them to be disposable.

He says they're different than that. I should have gotten a better idea what he needs before I even posted. I'm just getting frustrated now...

The one he's got, he's been using for over 20 years, though.

Thanks,
Andy

A quick google search of Hohner B2V images shows a flush mount panel jack. It is possible that they changed the jack and mounted it on a plate. If that is so, any 1/4" jack like a Switchcraft will do the trick. They are a lot more reliable and easier to install than the flush mounts.

Thanks for that. In fact, I have some Switchcraft so-called "Thick Panel Jacks" in stock here, as I recall. It would be nice if that fits- I can just give the guy one.

Thanks for the help,
Andy

I am guessing you mean the Stew Mac variety, as I have been using Stereo flushmount panel jacks in my shop since 1982, and have never had 1 fail in almost 600 instruments. Unlike the Neutrik locking jack which I have replaced 5 of those in 2 years.

Contact Hohner USA (800) 446-6010. Speak to Tracy. She should be able to help you out.

He spoke with her, and she sent him some links to a Hohner parts page. No dice.

This bass is very old, and the jack is a freak. All the jacks we've seen pictures of, even on Ebay, and that I have, and presumably our LMAO homie has, have fine threads, and a nut inside. The jack we're trying to find a replacement for actually has a coarser thread which screws into the wood itself, and no nut inside.

We're resigning ourselves to the idea that some surgery will be involved. It would appear that he will need to drill the hole to a slightly bigger diameter, and remove some wood inside to allow for the longer jacks which seem to be ubiquitous.

Thanks for your effort. It is appreciated.

LOOK UP^^^....LMAO

That would be an endpin style jack and are also quite readily available. Nothing weird or uncommon.

Oops. Forgot that these are end pin jacks.

It seems that there used to threaded jacks that did not include the strap bearing feature. This will probably work but it might protrude from the edge of the guitar.
