Hello, I have just found my self recently part of a band and need a new amp with much more power but am on a very tight budget. I can probably spend anything from 100-500$ but I still want to have some good power and quality. I have seen Behringer has some decently price amps but I have also been told they are not very quality efficient. I would like to stay away from Hartke and Crate for the reason that I have used these before and have been disappointed. So if anyone could give me some ideas, I have also been looking at Amp Heads and Cabinets and wouldn't mind using these at all, infact I'd much rather prefer it.

Need new amp but on a budget

Wow. I wish I was on a "very tight budget" of $500 for an amp.

i remember i asked a similar question to this when i started playing and joined this forum
everyone said "STAY AWAY FROM BEHRINGER", sage advice. some suggested peavey, but others were adamant that i should stay away from them
in the end i got a hartke which was the start of a beautiful relationship with that brand, but hey if its not for you....
in my experience, you get what you pay for man, theres no way you're gonna get something of reasonable quality without dishing out the dollars

do you have a PA for singer or whatever? you could go through that if you want more power. if not, start saving up! also, i feel personally i have to urge you to try hartke again cause in my opinion they are amazing 'bang for the buck'-wise. especially the new hydrive stuff.

I got a used Line 6 Lowdown 300 Combo with a 15" and horn for $350 shipped from Guitar Center online. Plenty of power and plenty of usable sounds.
Used Peavey.
You could get a Firebass and 4x10 or 1x15 easily within that range. Possibly even a bigger cab if need be.

Used Peavey amps are indestructible and delicious. I play a Mark IV. The newer Mark 8s are totally cool.
Used peavey if budget is like $150-$200.
I would get this amp if my budget was $280.

Much more sex appeal tonally and visually. Some complaints of rattling but can be fixed.
I like the Line 5 300 watter too but will still go for the B200R.
Used Nemesis RS210 Bass Combo would kill too. Eden is good stuff.

+1 on the Acoustic. I went with the B200h/410 setup and its amazing for the money. I have a clip with just my Squier II straight to it with the mids boosted slightly.

If you need a whole rig, used is the answer. For example there's a peavey TX 410 on my craigslist for 150 right now

15" combos are loud enough as a general rule. Not sure what you are competing with, e.g., half stack and 100 watt tube head.
I have played though the ampeg B200R and even the B100. They seem to deliver the goods. The 15s have good "throw" in larger rooms. I think they are gigable. But if your guitarist overpowers everything you are looking at appliance-sized rigs. I have not played the new Acoustic stuff, though the numbers are impressive. there is a 310 combo that supposedly makes 1,200 watts for $500. My vote is still on that Ampeg. A head and cab is better and more versatile but you are looking at used-caveat emptor. The ashdown blue line is pretty decent. i owned a 112 combo. That one was english made and very nice sounding, but not as loud as the ampeg 115. I would stay away form behr and hartke for tone reasons, but that's just my preference.

+2 on the new Acoustic products. Great value to say the least. With your budget, you could afford the B600H
