Need new EMG

I play a cheapo Spector Legend 5 string. I love the action and feel, but the preamp and HZ pups sound like crap. I was thinking of putting in a EMG 40DC. The bass is used for a cover band and I want it to thump for Johnny Cash and Metallica! Any ideas would be helpful.

It's part of a trilogy, a musical trilogy I'm working on in D minor which is the saddest of all keys, I find. People weep instantly when they hear it, and I don't know why.

DC is a bit harsh in the bridge imo, but you might like it as "aggressiveness". I propose 40CS in the bridge and 40J in the neck. (If you must have EMG)

most people seem to use a CS in the bridge and DC in the neck position. That's how i've got mine set up. I'll try to remember to post back here tomorrow once I give it a sound test.
