I have several detuners which sometimes are moved from bass to bass, and the small mounting screws on the back plate sometimes become stripped out. I am looking for a source for replacements.

I believe they are #2 flat head wood screws. Can't find them anywhere.

Thanks.

What you want are #2 x 3/8" Flat Head Phillips Sheet Metal Screws, not wood screws. You may find them at a hardware store, or you can buy them online at McMaster-Carr or other hardware suppliers:

McMasters part number 90065A079, $2.78 for a box of 100: McMaster-Carr

Thanks all. I swear, over the years I've been to Lowes and HD and only find them in brass with slotted heads. I looked at McMaster Carr and they didn't have the right length, but I was looking at wood screws, not sheet metal. I didn't contact Hipshot because they list new saddles for IMO is an outrageous price, so I didn't even look.

I swear I'm not the idiot this makes me seem. Maybe a little...

Nah....e-mail them and they'll probably mail you a handful for free. As Bruce pointed out, you can snag 'em at Lowe's, as well.

Same guy helps me out as well. I lost a few of the same screws a few years back. He mailed me some replacements at no charge. They arrived in a plain ol’ envelope.

I have found with Hipshot that if you have an account where you’ve bought direct from them before, they’ll likely just send you some. They are a customer service focused company, and may just send them even if you aren’t a registered customer.

ACE is the place! For screws and such. I generally like Lowe’s, but sometimes their hardware department can be lacking.
