Considering this. Thoughts? I play both active and passive basses, fingerstyle only.
The amp is 300 watts at 4 ohms and the cabinet is 8 ohms, so you will actually be using somewhere around 150 watts in this setup. It might be enough for small venues, and a second 8 ohms cabinet might be enough for a medium room. Hard to say.
Be aware that the speaker output on the amp is 1/4" only, while the cabinet is equipped with Speakon. Make sure you get the right speaker cable.
I've no experience with these models, but I've liked other Ashdown gear I've played through.

When I zoom in on the jack it looks like it has “combo” molded into it which means it would take a 1/4” in the center hole.
OP I've never played the gear in your post but I got a modular deal going on here that may be a concept you like or not.

This combo will be louder than you think. I’d give it a try. It also leaves you room to add another 8ohm cab if you think you’ll need it. I’d be willing to bet you won’t want to add another cab unless you start playing outside venues with no PA support. I started with an Ashdown Mag300 2x10 combo that was also 300w at 4ohm but the 2x10 were only an 8ohm load. It was enough for medium to large rooms on its own. I added a 15” cab later on but I never truly needed it.

If I had to start from scratch, I’d use a preamp/fx pedal with DI into a decent Powered PA speaker.

Benefits of having a powered PA speaker is that you can use it for so many other non bass and bass/band situations if needed.
I’m not so sure what you mean by small and medium sized room. I tend to judge room size by seating capacity.
‘I have a Mesa WD-800 that powering a 210 8 ohm Eden cab rated for 500 watts. I have the WD-800 set to only put out 300 watts with an 8ohm load. I’ve covered a room with a 500 seat capacity playing with an 11 piece Motown review band with horns.
You should be ok unless you are playing in a death metal band wher you would need a lot of uber low end.
I got a Gnome i Pro from Amazon Japan for under $180 shipped. That's about half the street price. It's labeled in Japanese, but that's really kinda cool, IMO.

I have the MAG300 head (same as @mellobud above, but in head form), they're really good and the OriginAL is much smaller and lighter. I use it with the RM210T and RM115T EVO II cabs. (The EVO IIs are being replaced with the new EVO III cabs.) Sweetwater has at least one more RM115 EVO II cab for $299.99.
My stack is plenty loud, even for the older MAG head. In fact, I can usually run my CTM-30 tube amp with plenty of volume with them.
With Ashdowns you can run the mids hotter and cut through a mix really well, it's like a volume boost.
The OriginAL also has a DI line level out, that can run to the FOH if you need more.

I have several QSC K10.2's and as much as I like them for PA tops in small/medium venues, or monitor wedges, they are really not very good bass cabs.
It's possible the K12.2 would do better, but I'd pass on the K10.2
I would go with a mesa d350 and subway 115 cab for what you are asking, add a second 115 or 210 later IF you need/want more down the road…
My rig can do small, medium and even some larger gigs with no PA support. It puts out 800 watts, weighs just over 65 pounds for the head and 2 cabs and really puts out the bass. It's a Genzler MG800 into an Epifani UL210/UL112 stack. The nice thing is I can use it with just one cab for smaller gigs and it still sounds great.
I have an Ashdown OriginAL, I gig with it a lot. It has a very full, thick low end, and does very well with classic rock, blues, old r&b stuff. The lows are so big that I won't use it without an HPF. Frankly it's not giggable without the HPF.

I own an Eden 4 ohm 1X12; I used to own two. Mostly I used just one with an Eden 300 watt micro, but when I needed a loud rig I used a Carvin amp that was switchable to 2 ohms. Markbass makes a head that switches from 8 to 4 ohms, the Little Mark 58R .

I'm looking at the Genzler Kinetix 800 and a Bass Array2-112-3SLT for this very function because I ain't carrying 65lbs of SB300 everywhere with me, not to mention the 15 or 6x10 cab I've got for it. About to pull the trigger, just need a little push. Thinking of getting it at Guitar Center since it's I can try it and if I REALLY don't like it, I can take it back for absolutely nothing but I'm thinking it's gonna be pretty amazeballz for it's size and weight. I'm just a bit squeamish after buying SOOOOOO much stuff in the past year which has come out to close to $8-9k. I've gotten lucky with most of my purchases and hit my mark with each so I don't know why I'm hesitating now.
