need some quick help! whats the better deal?

Right now i have an ampeg 810. i met a guy selling a mesa 810 road ready powerhouse. I've played it for the last few weeks and it sounds great. but, i think i still want to keep the ampeg for use in future bands/styles, and the sentimental value.

he's made the offer of a trade. i get his mesa, and he gets the ampeg +$100. OR he's offered to sell the cab (no trade) for about $900 (i think i can get him down to at least $850).

what's the better deal on my end? ignore the fact that you might not find two 810 cabs a necessity. is the mesa worth $900? is the trade of my ampeg and $100 a better deal?

thanks in advance

Used Ampeg Fridges seem to usualy sell between $400 and $700 depending on condition.
I'd think That road ready would be worth more in the $500-$1000 range, again very dependent on condition. So, they're value really depends on the condition of each.

ps: have you tried loading that road ready yourself yet? I'm thinking its gonna be like 40 lbs heavier than yer fridge...

loading is no problem. i'm in a band of a bunch of young guys. i've never had to do it myself.

both of the cabs are in about the same condition, respectively.

i think i'm just gonna buy it and then sell one later if i want. might not be the best idea financially in the long run. but i'm not ready to let go of the ampeg, and having it for now just to be sure is worth a few hundred bucks i guess.

Ok so here's what happened. For the last few weeks we traded cabs, he had mine I had his. On my way to meeting the guy, I ran into another dude that plays in our studio who knows the seller, and he tells me that the seller bought it (used) for $600. This in mind, as well as some other things, I offered $750. He said $800. In the middle of this I scope out my ampeg that he's returning, and he's damaged it! There's a chunk out of the wood on a corner and one of my wheels is tweaked and doesn't roll right. The worst part: when I question him about it, he denies the damage and says "are you sure? i thought it was like that..." Yes I'm sure! So I ended up taking the hit on it while telling him "I guess that's what I get". We settled on the mesa for $775.

So now I have my (now damaged more than just ripped tolex) ampeg and a $775 mesa.

moral of the story: don't let people borrow your stuff. even if there's collateral.

...they still both sound great:p
