Not with the pork loin. In fact in regards to highs there is a tone knob and a curve adjustment as well as internal trim pots that allow you to control the highs frequency.

Actually i was more worried about losing my low end. I know a lot of "guitar" drive pedals roll off low freqs below 80 or 100 hz. And in the past that was a big part of why pedals that i tried on bass sounded bad. You lost all of the freqs that make you feel the bass.

Catalinbread SFT, designed from the ground up to emulate a cranked Ampeg. I recommend the newest version, which is blue and silver. To me this is the best sounding incarnation.

Also in this category...Way Huge Pork Loin and Empress Multidrive. I recently sold my SFT and Pork and now use the Empress because of its versatility, but if you only want that one sound any of them would be stellar.

I second Mmbongo's post. Especially at 18volts, which gives it much more headroom, and the ability to keep your bass tone clean/slightly overdriven a bit longer than with a 9volt. Is having an adapter a bit of an inconvenience...sure, but it's worth it.

I think you mean the zvex basstortion. the basstard pedal is made by okko.

Yeah, even something like the BBBassPreamp rolls off below 100hz. The Pork Loin is beeeeefy on the lows, you never lose the bass and in fact gain a bit. VT Bass should be safe, as is the SFT if you don't crank the bass control into too much compression (this is where the 18v comes in handy). And that's an interesting thing to note on the issue: tube amps naturally do compress the low end a bit, so some of that is to be expected with a tube-emulating pedal.
