Needing advice about lightweight rig.

So, I'm an experienced guitarist and started playing bass around 4 years ago, getting back into it recently and currently baffled as to why I put the bass down...ever.

I live in SE Asia so I'm somewhat limited, in the sense that there is very little choice in the most reputable shop (with free delivery).

I have a my US post code and I'm happy to send things across to SE asia via courier. However, weight becomes an issue then.

So, here's my dilemma. The band I play generally do covers with some originals creeping through into our mix. We are going for some modern and classic rock tunes (foo fighters / ACDC)

I like da bass frequencies and lo mids. So I had my eyes on a Ampeg PF500 with 2 115 cabs. But I am seeing Markbass and Orange doing lightweight tube / valve amps which much appeals to me. What cabs would you recommend with these?

Can anyone recommend an lightweight amp head with a cab option. I do have a budget buts somewhat flexible. Certainly looking at more than $1000 US at my disposal.

I realise that my personal tone preference will be the ultimate factor but for a fairly growly amp / cab that can handle the lows, what ideas do you have?

If you’re going to get a Markbass head, you can use any kind of cabinet with them; I did. But the best results by far come from using Markbass cabs with the heads, they are really designed to work together and they do.

As for the Orange, I know far less. They have good cabs but I don’t think they’ve got lightweight ones. Kind of the opposite so far as I can tell.

For light weight and lots of available low end, it is hard to beat Greenboy designs (fEARful and Fearless), Barefaced Bass, or Audiokinesis.

I like Markbass amps, but don't have one or use one very often, so I can't advise. Never been a fan of Orange, but I've been known to rhyme 'orange' with 'door hinge,' lol.

Most of the mainstream brands are available in SEA, I suppose depends on which country you’re in. I use Hartke or EBS cabs with Markbass heads, both of which are readily available across most of SEA.
If you already have the head, go try the cabs available in your country with the head and your bass. For the sound you want, the best judge will be your ears.
