Sorry my first idea couldn't fly.
I have had two different 2x10 cabs. The first was an SWR goliath III, Jr. 8 ohms. Kind of heavy. Great for upright, good for pairing with a 1x15, good for small venues and rehearsals, not great for large noisy bars with a 9-piece horn band, 5-string, or outdoors.
Second one I still use all the time: Epifani 2x10T NYC 8 ohm. Heavy, sweet, dark, clean, loud! Great cab that I paid $450 for used on TB (Thanks Gruuv!). This is a superb cabinet that works well for upright, electric, loud bars, rehearsal, 5-string, etc. I pair it with a goliath II 4x10 when I want "the big guns."
Alone I drive it with a pre-fender SWR silverface 350. When I want more power or pair it with the 4x10, I use a CA-6 and a tube pre.
In effect, I have two rigs. An SWR 350 + the Epifani, and the CA-6/ART tube channel/BBE rack + the golliath II. I also have an SWR sob 1x15 that I can use if I need to leave cabinets in 3 places.
My advice is to get several good quality used components that all can work together. Since you have a combo, that makes the switch into components hard in terms of $$$. That is why I usually advise against combos. I have been there 3 times, I no longer see them as anything other than a total compromise. I have had to take one on the road, and hope I can avoid that.
Finding a combination of affordable, powerful, and flexible is never easy. I would compromise on the "coolness/quality" of the head in favor of power, and spend more on the cab. A really good light weight USED cab (epifani, bergie, aguilar, etc.) will eat at least $500. Find a used ~300-500 watt Carvin, Peavy, GK, etc. and then add another cab when finances permit. Then, add another head, and go for a lightweight LMII or something similar.
IMHO, you ideally want to end up with two light compatible cabs, a light powerful head, and a heavier backup head. Again, you have two complete rigs, but can actually use it in 4 configurations. Good hunting, and save your money!
