Nemesis...

I like the blue line stuff. Haven't played the newer RS line, but the blue line combos and cabs I've played had great tone and were a great value. I used to play an Eden WT330 into the NSP210 and NSP212 cabinets, and liked it very much indeed.

Cheers

would the nemesis 410 cab be good for metal? maybe paired with a Mark Bass Little Mark head?

I own two Nemesis combos. But I wouldn't recommend Nemesis for metal. The voicing is oriented to be warm, deep and clean - much better for all-purpose rock/pop/jazz/funk/country etc.

Try a good-quality used tube head + standalone 4x10 cab...

Tom,

The nemesis cabs are great value indeed and people of various genres use them including many metallers. I guess it depends if your set-up with a MB head and Nemy cab will work in your situation. How many guitards are in your group? What are they blasting through? Does your drummer clout the living daylights out of his drums?

I think the main things to consider for a metal bassist is:
1. Will my amp deliver enough headroom (Considering band formation and gear)?
2. Will my amp support expansion if I need it? (Adding more cabs later can add more volume)
3. Will the cab I'm about to buy be compatible with rig expansion? Consider ohms and what your amp will support. If you buy a 4 ohm cab and you decide you need another, will your amp support this?

I own the older nemesis nc4x10 if I would charge for the number of times I have loaned it out I could buy a new one! I love mine for a backup amp, as for a primary amp I would recommend a little more wattage. But no doubt a great line of amps.

I have the NC-210, N28S, and two NSP210 cabs. They're all good stuff.

The Nemesis blue series (and the new RS series) holds up well in medium venues. Even my old 200 watt 210 is as loud as Ampeg head with a Bergantino 610, due to the efficiency of the speakers (I've demonstrated this at a bass players convention recently).

I've used the Silver series N28S with a D210XST at an outdoor tent gig, with 300+ people. It get quite loud with efficient speakers behind it. By itself, I would only use it for small gigs and rehearsals. I've also used it for recording.

I also own a couple of Eden heads and a few Eden cabs. The Nemmy's sound very close to the Eden sound.

I use my NC210 exclusivley now for all small to medium clubs. I was playing a small club on Saturday night when a guy comes up to me after the gig was over to comment on how great my sound was that night. Now this guy was a fellow bassist, and had seen me play at this club before with my SVT5pro/SVT410HLF, and said he couldn't believe that my sound was coming from that little combo alone!:smug: This was w/o any PA support at all!:) I love this little combo.:D
