Neptunium? When? How’d I miss this???

I was sad I was not in position to get a Neptunium when they were available. To hell with loyal customers though. You do you.

I think you're missing the mark a little here... there aren't tube driven emulations of those Ampeg models on the market in a pedal format, that I am aware of (would love to be proven wrong). Not only this, but I would even argue their is virtually no overlap in customer base between a real B-15 and the Slampegg, for example.

If the Neptunium is the XLR side of the Noble, is your More peddle the closest thing to the 1/4 output side of the Noble? The churches I play at require us to go through their DI setup. So I’m using a Khan, as the 1/4 output is after the tube. I’d like to make a second board with a Stomp and have something like a Khan/Noble after it, but don’t need the XLR. Just need the 1/4 to have that warm tube goodness.

If toggling it on and off isn't necessary, i would still recommend going with the Finally for this job. You can send the 1/4" out through the circuit, and have gain and level control available to fine tune your saturation level.

While I definitely see your point, you can talk circles around this point ad nauseum. IME working in music retail, truly original designs go unnoticed and get promptly discontinued, only to maybe sky rocket in value once John Mayer puts one on his board three years later.

Starting with tried and true familiar designs that bass player's already love, massaging the circuit to his liking, and packaging in a completely different format from the original product, doesn't strike me as non original.

In fact, Nathan has an original preamp in the Venus. I haven't heard it, but I'm sure it sounds fantastic, and he will sell three times as many Ampeg pres.

Venus is, in my opinion, the best sounding preamp I have ever made, and in 2024 year-to-date I have actually sold 4x as many Ampeg preamps.

Would really love to try the Venus for a direct solution... Currently using the Slampegg as an overdrive into my otherwise clean Mesa Boogie M9 amp. Been looking at solutions to send a direct signal to the house that is tuned to the house sound, not DI'ed off my amp on stage that I gain stage and EQ to function as a stage monitor. Venus seems like it could be a great option.

Honestly, the foot switch. It seems like the More is designed to be footswitched on as a volume boost, where the Finally is always in the signal chain.

If you don't need/want to switch it off, Finally all the way. More control of the same concept.

Yes, I don’t need the foot switch, always on would be great. So tube preamps turn on instantly. I always thought they needs to warm up?

There is a brief warm up period for preamp tunes. But it's moments, not minutes.

The footswitch doesn't disconnect power, it just bypasses the preamp and connects the input jack to the output jack. The preamp is connected to power as soon as it's plugged in. My pedals do need a brief warm up when they're first plugged in, but once it warms up it's ready to be switched on and off at your leisure.

I know this is a Neptunium thread, but FWIW, the Noble does take a moment (couple seconds it seems to me) to come up once it's powered on. Just experienced it while doing a track this evening.

I had the Venus Z. Good preamp, I just didn't really gel with the EQ for what I was doing. That just me though. Love my Finally and will always keep it even if I use a different DI because I know at some point I'll come back to it for a while.

It's cool man, I get where you were coming from, I didn't feel like you were out of line. You didn't say anything I haven't said to myself as I have internal dialogues contemplating what I want to be when I grow up. They were designed for different purposes. I would say Finally adds more coloration and is a better choice if it's the only pedal or only preamp in your rig. More still does well by itself, but what it does very well is make everything already there sound better, and I see it used most frequently to bring warmth to digital modelers and/or solid-state amps.
