Those of you that are fortunate enough to talk about their characters on WoW... I am AFRAID to get involved with it. With all of the other time-suckers in my life - bass, flying and flight SIMS, electronics tinkering, various computer pursuits, and a couple more - WoW would be a one-way ticket to losing ground with the famiily!

And I was NEVER able to do pen/paper adventure games. I envy all of you that could! Lived in a small town in the south that considered that sort of thing 'Satanic', and now i travel the damn world and it makes it kind of hard to find a group that still does it AND would be willing to train a total n00b how to do it. One day, ONE DAY I will find a way to reclaim my fledgling nerdhood!! THIS I SWEAR!!!

Pretty sure even the coolest bass players are nerds. Does knowing the basslines to multiple NES games count? If so I'm in.

You just have to localize it. I was having trouble getting people to play old pen and paper D&D with me, so I wrote up a campaign set in present time, in the city we live in, added some zombies and veliciraptors for the fun of it and I got players. My character used the G&L JB2 in the room as an improvised bludgeoning weapon as we fought our way to Home Depot for chain saws.

I began playing ASCII games via dial-up on bulletin boards in the late 80's, began using Linux in the early 90's (by 1999 100% Linux at home) and still play Nethack a couple of times a week at home and work

Throw me into the mix, I got my first basic D&D box set (TSR) when I was 7 and have been playing on and off ever since. I'm currently in a monthly game, run by another bass player.

OK, not a big palyer of RPG's except for offline single player video games, but I am and have been a painter and sculptor of fantasy gaming miniatures for tabletop RPG's and wargames (think AD+D, Warhammer etc.) and I collect superhero (mostly Batman) action figures and other memorabilia. Does all that count as nerdy?

Awesome thread! Can I grab #42? In lieu of listing my favorite books, TV shows, movies, or games (I'll give the genres, though - Sci-Fi, Sci-Fi, Sci-Fi and single-player RPG's. There's just too much awesome stuff out there to list without omitting something!)... I just got back from a show where I watched my friends' band play and did my astrophysics homework during the other acts.
