I saw the teaser the other day and it looked like one of those life is stranger than fiction stories.
If they ever do a scripted version of this story, Danny McBride definitely needs to play the Tiger King.
It's a train wreck. Once you start, you keep watching because our beliefs do not allow us to believe it's going to get worse. It does. Hunter Thompson could not have written it.
I've stumbled across videos by both Doc and Joe Exotic over the years. They've both been on NatGeo, Animal Planet and the Today Show. They make it look like the animals are well cared for and loved. I had no idea how dark they are. They really are master marketing manipulators. They fooled me.
I will watch the last episode later today. It's a train wreck that you can't stop looking at.

Dont even get me started about exotic animals as commodities and pets.
I accidentally started watching this, in the mistaken belief it was a simple documentary about exotic pet owners.
I'm now 4 episodes in...and all I gotta say is a show like this confirms almost every single negative stereotype people in the civilised world have about America.
And yet I can't stop watching...

It's probably the only thing Hunter Thompson did write while clean and sober.
I was considering giving the Netflix series a try, but after reading this article, I'll take a hard pass. I'm not giving one second of my time to watching an animal killing garbage person.

I finished watching the series last night. It was like watching a soap opera of hillbillies. And, unfortunately, more addictive than crack... umm, meth, as everyone on the show was smokin it.
Yep. I didn't really enjoy it but it was something to do. Not a single sympathetic character in it, to be honest. Too much Jerry Springer for my taste.
I won't trust any of them with a flaming bag of dog poop! They are all extremely dishonest folk!
It's pretty hard to stomach parts of it. I'll admit to hating a lot of their firearms handling. To say nothing of the animal handling, some pretty nasty things come out later in the series too. It does not paint the guy in a sympathetic light.
