Never seen a bass like this...

Was browsing the local craigslist earlier today when I stumbled across an ad for the estate sale of Frank Primerano; bass player for Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Johnny Mathis, and others.
The bass that really caught my attention though is unlike anything I've ever seen... anyone know what the heck it is? Maybe a custom build of some sort?

some other nice looking stuff included a signed 1930's Juzek and a Fender Coronado

Does anyone know what kind of bass the upright is?

Looks pretty sweet, whatever it is. A friend of mine built something that's kind of the opposite. He took a cello, cut the body in half and reglued it so it was about half as thick, then slapped a fretless jazz neck on the sucker. It's almost like a travel acoustic upright, and the sound it has is sick!

I am the current owner of it and it has no label on the inside. I was told by a luthier that it was made in the mid to late 1800s. I am just trying to find out what kind of bass it is.

Lol well after a year I still don't know what kind it is. I'm leaning towards Juzek. This upright has suited me well. Best bass I've ever owned
