thought it was a cool logo, but never saw it like this.
its off a trans red jazz.

anyone have one like this?

SO the original probably sold for exactly the same price, the shipping is about $25 more expensive than Rondo's, and you can't buy them with that headstock anymore. You think $25 is too much but you'd spend the same on one with a headstock you didn't like?

Here's the question - how much would people who want the old headstock back pay for one?

My guess - not much more than 35% more than original pricing.

Whaaaaaaaat?!?!?!?!

Selling price of 99 dollars, plus $45.00 shipping? (used the shipping calculator to my house) I'd just buy a new one and deal with the new headstock myself....shizza! I can get a used Squier VM for a little more than that! Or a Peavey anything.....

Your points are valid.

I guess the viewpoint I hold comes from the fact that I don't really mind the new headstock. And, I'd be willing to bet that in a few months or so, the increased price for the "old" headstock will die away.

No one is (that I am aware of) is looking for any of the other previous headstocks. At one time, SX had an almost exact Fender looking headstock. I'd think those would be the ones folks were after.

And I say all this as the trigger that got me to buy my LPB fretless is it was still the "old" headstock. And part of me is waiting to see what goes on with the value of the old headstock equipped basses.

If they continue to rise in value, I will sell this one and buy one with the new headstock. So does this all make me a hypocrite, or an opportunist?

1. While the old headstock premium might go away soon, I suggest that as time goes on, it will creep back up. Ten years from now, used SX instruments that have the old headstock will, I believe, sell for more than those with Furian headstocks (unless the quality of the Furians increases significantly in some way).

2. Did SX ever sell that Fender copy headstock in the US?

3. I jumped on the LPB old style headstock basses too, because while I don't hate the Furian HS, I do prefer the old style. I doubt that I will be selling any of mine for at least 10 years though.

4. It makes you a capitalist! :D

#2 - I'm unclear on that, but it might be worth a lookie see....

#4 - Capitalism Rocks! I have also found an angle with a line of guitars that might be promising too....always looking for the right opportunity!

I used to pick up several SX basses a year just for different modding and finishing projects... "used" to.

Now I just get depressed when I go to the Rondo site and see that dull axe headstock.

No more of them for me.

Jay Turser Basses might work for your new mod platform, and there is enough headstock to do a creative reshape if one wanted. Or dare I say Squier Affinity or Standard series basses? And they have the true Fender (sort of) headstock....
