new 5 string??

i've been thinking about buying a new five string to replace my peavey grind. don't get me wrong, the peavey is nice but i love active pickups and lots of control. i was considering the Ibanez 605.

anyone have better ideas?? i'm trying to stay in the <$800 area.

thanks

A 605 is a good choice if you want the natural finish, which I am personally a fan of. You might be able to find a used SR1205 or 1405 if you're lucky though, and those are have Norstrands instead of Mk-1 Barts, which is considered an upgrade. They have great looking top woods as well.

I'm with you. i recently purchased a Sterling by MM SUB Ray 5 for $300.00. While searching, I played Schecter's, Squiers, Washburn's, and even a MIA Jazz.

The Sterling by MM SUB Ray 5 blew them all away, even the MIA Jazz. (IMHO. I own MIA Pbass so I"m ready for the Fender Pro's that will slam MHO)

But really, the SUB Ray 5 is awsome for the money. Play one and evaluate.

I just picked one up it's in layaway,I take it home on Sept 8th, I am just dumbfounded on how well it plays, sounds & is built I've been on the fence for a fiver for sometime.this one is it,I was playing it today looking for dead spots I don't know if cuz its active, but I'm hard pressed to find any real noticeable dead spots,it's a 300 bass and I'm just excited it has that killer MM tone.the best bank for the buck!

I agree with Seal, Iown the Ibanez ATK805E 5 string. It plays amazingly fact & has really good sustain with the massive chrome bridge and growls like a musicman or can achieve great lows Has a sonic pickup near the neck & has 3 way switch. about 800 street value. I wrote the 1st review on it for Guitar Center.
