New 8-string Listerud basses on the way

I am now very proud and pleased to announce that I am endorsed by the Norwegian master luthier Listerud. He is currently building two 8-string fretless basses for me. I'm totally stoked about this, and I can hardly wait to get my hands on them. The basses will be finished in june.

Specs:

Bass 1:
8-string fretless 34" scale bolt-on construction
9-piece Maple/Bubinga (or was it Wenge?)neck with double trussrod
Ebony fretboard
2-piece Maple body with Ebony top
Audere preamp
BassCulture soapbar pickups
Either oil or wax finish
The bass will feature some really cool carvings and Corian inlays taken from Norse mythology.

Bass 2:
8-string fretless 34" scale bolt-on construction
3-piece Maple neck with double trussrod
Ebony fretboard
2-piece Maple body
Audere preamp
BassCulture soapbar pickups
Black high-gloss piano finish

Tuning on both basses: F#-B-E-A-D-G-C-F

The inlay reads: Tiwaz - Separator Of the Celestial And The Mundane.

Will post updates later, when I have more pictures to show :)

Very nice historical Scandinavian touch over it!

Edit: Im very tempted to save up for a Listerud because of the fact that the basses are built in Norway so i won't have any trouble shipping it to Sweden/Stockholm. It feels better having something shipped/driven that short distance.
So whats the Price on the first bass? If i order one i will only have 4 or 6 strings so i guess the price will be less but i will at least have an idea of the price.

Well, with the carvings and all for a 4-6 string bass I'm guessing around 18-20000 NOK.

Oh my.. I died three times when i translated 18000 NDK into Swedish kronor.
Why then? That seems to be quite a reasonable price for a handbuilt bass from a skilled luthier, if you ask me. It's even on the affordable side, compared to what some other well known Scandinavian luthiers will charge for a custom bass.

Anyway, congrats on the new basses! Can't wait to see them finished. (even though the asatro-themed one, isn't quite to my liking, as it signals things to me that it probably isn't meant to. Can't deny the excellent quality of workmanship though)

I'm not sure what you mean by that...
Oh, it's just that I've seen too many neo-nazi- and national pride type people walking 'round with miniature Thor's hammers around their necks, and "odalrunor" on their T-shirts (not to mention all the white pride bands that use similar, old norse, motifs in their image and lyrics) in my day. Hence, when anything "fornnordiskt" is used nowadays, I get a bit suspicious, suspect the worst, and get put off.

But, as I said, I'm sure that I shouldn't be put off in regard to your forthcoming bass.

Well, I don't see two consecutive Sig runes ("S"), so I wouldn't worry much about it. :smug:

I totally understand, those neo-nazi idiots have messed things up badly for the people that are national romantics. Many people do assosciate the old norse with racism/nazism, but I do think that for the most part, people that carry Thor's Hammers etc, aren't racists/nazis.
