New Amp day: Ampeg BA-108

I don't expect anyone to jump for joy about a practice amp, but I'm a hobbyist bass player at best and this is a nice upgrade from my rumble 15. Anyone else have any love for this little ampeg?

I have a BA-112 and a B100R, both are great amps, the next small amp will be a BA-108. Sometimes it's nice to plug into a small amp at home.

I've got an older BA108. Just used it a couple weeks ago on an upright gig with this old-timey jazz band I play with occasionally. Not the loudest amp on earth but for $100 it's got some righteous tone.

As small amps go , that little 108 sounds better for its size than anything else I have ever heard. If my current POS practice amp ever craps out , I'm sure I will be looking at one. My current amp sounds lousy but I'm not worried about tone for a practice amp. Besides , it's paid for.

Yes, I think the BA108 is a fantastic little amp. I like the Ampeg sound, and I think mine sounded great for bass and undistorted guitar. I sold my BA108 only because a friend and mentor offered me a deal on a slightly used SVT-IV head that was way too good to pass up.

I had one and it was a great practice amp. Sold it recently to reduce my inventory but had no complaints when I used it.

Just bought this amp today. For a long time I'd been meaning to pick up a small practice amp that I could use as an emergency spare for teaching my beginner road students if their practice/lesson amp blows out, and the need finally came. I would have settled for a smaller 10 - 15 watt amp, but when I tried this one in the store it was very impressive for what it was - big and full with a nice tone, and it has a nice EQ. Of course, 20 watts is only 20 watts, but it was louder than I expected so I could also see using it for very low volume rehearsals or even gigs.

I have an older one and it's perfect when friends cover over for acoustic stuff. Great tone for a tiny amp... I love it.

I have one that i got for free and i was impressed by the tone. It sounds like an ampeg!
