New Amp day (Traynor content)

Been a while since I've been on here. Figured this was a cool little amp to share though. Picked it up yesterday so technically it's day after new amp day. It's a mid 70's Traynor YBA-4. Been looking for one for ages and was offered it as a trade for my Traynor studiomate. Was pretty much stock except for the caps in bias circuit and adjustment pot. Bias was dead on. Voltages throughout the amp were all good. Filter caps are working but I have ordered new ones already. It was pretty ratty and beat up so I've started clean up. Replaced the grill cloth. The original was beyond fixing. Cleaned up all the spider webs and grime. Looking pretty good so far. Looooove this amp. It has 2 channels. One for guitar and one for bass. You can jumper them as well so the range of bass tones you can get out of this thing is crazy for an old 70s combo amp. Sounds just as good as a guitar amp as well! Lol anyways it was a awesome new amp day! Here are some pics.

I loved my YBA-1A, apart from the weight.

Thanks man. That is a cool amp! Those are getting quite popular again. I have the mini bedroom version lol. It screams... I can just imagine that one through a 4x10!

nice, i had that same head ts120b for over 40yrs without a hitch...served me well and i just sold it lastyear...its rock solid and has plenty of power as you know

Oh wow, I’ll never sell mine as my Parents bought it for me when I was playing for them. I have a mark bass head now and an old fender 4-10 cabinet that will move some air. Also have a ashdown studio 15 that gets toted around, the other two are too heavy for me to use anywhere but my music room.

I had the 1-15 combo version of the TS120B along with a matching extension cab and liked it a lot. I used the TS120B on all the gigs that made me the money I used to buy my next amp, an A.M.P. BH-420.

I only sold it because at the time (about 1990) buying a new amp meant selling the old one.

That YBA4 reminds of my long gone BassMate combo.
