New Ampeg Micro CL Stack is now available

I'd say it's likely they used speakers that handle 150w total. In their combos, they use speakers that can take more than the head they're designed to be paired with can put out, but not by a huge margin.

I just bought one of these little beasts yesterday, and it is one of the coolest sounding practice amps I've ever played through. Loads of volume for practicing at home along to recordings, and it has a great tone. I would definitely use it for recording, but probably not in a loud rock situation.

Is there much difference between the CL and the SV? Here in Norway there´s not a big price difference. The SV is currently on the top of my shortlist now, but probably paired with a PF350/PF500. That should give me a bit more volume and more headroom? And the ability to run a second cab...

By SV, I'm assuming you mean the 210av? 210av is a better cab. The speakers take more power, and though they don't take a lot more power, it makes a difference, plus I think they just generally sound better. Similar but a little smoother sounding IMHO. As for being a step-up from the BA115, I don't think it is. I'd probably rank them about even. Some might prefer the Micro CL, some might prefer the BA115. But their capabilities and value for the money are pretty even if you ask me.

Yeah I wouldn't be surprised if they were the same amp on the inside. I really like the Micro-CL as a tight and tidy little practice amp that sounds good, doesn't take up space, is loud enough to play in a band (if needed), doesn't have a fan so has no fan noise for recording, has two inputs so you can plug in a drum machine and play along during practice, etc. Lots of pluses with this amp, few minuses.

They're not the same amp on the inside, as the BA115 is a trad SS with iron power transformer and the Micro CL is SMPS, but they're both terrific amps for the money, that's for sure.

Yes, I'm thinking mostly cabs. As I'm pretty much leaning towards one of the PF amps. So then I assume the 210av cab with a PF350 would be a descent step up from the BA115...?

Now I just need my wife to get a few new pair of shoes, to forget about me just buying a new bass:-)

Yes, I think the PF350 with a 210av would be a nice step up. However, that isn't to say you may not prefer the BA115 still. I prefer the PF350/210av, but everyone's different, and I could see many people preferring the deeper lows and traditional solid state design of the BA115, even if it doesn't get as loud as the PF350/210av.

Ok. Thanks a lot!

I'm also digging the tone of the BA115, but I want more midrange punch and a bit more volume. Going to Copenhagen in about a month. I'm gonna try not to get a head of my self and get something prematurely. I should be able to find a good shop and hopefully get to try some different stuf then.

I picked one up as my Christmas present to myself. Even though I am just starting out on this whole Bass thing, I can tell it's a BIG step up from my BA108, which until I played through the Micro CL I thought sounded pretty good.

In that case you will likely prefer the PF350/210av.

So there it is! Just perfect...

I bought the micro CL because I loved the tone, but it had too much fizzy digital distortion (not the good kind-sounded a little like a blown speaker), so I returned it and got the vr, which is clean, but has that fan going all the time. I thought maybe the cl was defective, but the other one in the store had the same fuzzy distortion at any volume or input level and with a passive jazz bass. The micro vr is pretty nice, though it actually seems to have less low end than the cl. Whatever. I like the vr as a practice amp and I think it will record well when I get around to it. I don't know how anyone can tolerate the cl's distortion though.
