Has anybody tried the Genz-Benz Streamliner 900, and or the new ,Ag.Tone Hammer amp for acoustic ? Curious about other small amp possibilties for URB, I know they get a lot of praise from the EB side.

I have a Genz-Benz Steamliner 900 and I think it's my favorite BG amp.
However, I think the preamp section is a bit too colored for upright and does not have the adjustable eq that will help prevent feedback.
I take my Headway preamp and plug it into the effect loop of the SL-900 if I'm playing upright with that amp. That works great.
The Genz Benz Shuttle series amps have better pre's for upright IMO.

I played a gig last night with my Western Swing band. Merchant Vertical bass, Full Circle pickup straight into Genz Benz STL 6.0 into EA WZ110. Inputs both at 12:00, all EQ at 12:00, output at about 1:00. The general consensus is that the rig is punchier and the notes are more defined than with my AI Focus. Very promising.
Like BG amps, the most noticeable difference between the micro heads is probably that they are all voiced to have different frequency response curve when the tone controls are centered. Since these curves tend not to be published, it becomes a matter of trial and error to decide which one you prefer.
The Genz Shuttle series sounds good with the DB, I would guess the Streamliner would be too colored sounding as its basically made to emulate the feel of a Tube amp. If you want that sound, great. I would suggest something more transparent. The new GK MB series amps are terrific.
I jus bought a Markbass Little Mark 250 with a Mark New York 121. Really light weight, sounds great pizz and arco, and can switch between electric and acoustic basses with little tweaking. they make a head (mark 800???) that has two inputs, one with phantom power to run a mic blend.
Just got a Streamliner 900 for my slab gigs. IMO, I confirm with others on this thread, it's unuseable for upright. Fwiw, I play an American Standard, Fishman Full Circle, Spirocore Weichs, Bergantino 12's. It *might* work if you're using a magnetic PU. It sounded decent with my Phil Jones Bass head plugged into the EFX return as hensonbass is doing. But, it doesn't as good my PJB alone or any of my Walter Woods heads that sadly are no longer with me. One day I hope to afford to hold onto another Woods.

Well, if a Full Circle pared with the Bergantino 112 doesn't sound good then you're right, it's pretty much got to be the amp that's running between them. Even the Shuttle 3.0 amps vary IME. I like the sound of the 10T but the 12T sounds totally different with my Mirecourt Bass, Ehrlund Pickup and Pre Amp. Since it's an identical head, it's got to be the difference in the tweeters in those two cabinets. Other players, get a really nice sound from the 12T, but it really doesn't work with my rig.

To be clear Ric, I'm talking about Genz' Streamliner, not the Shuttle. Fwiw, I tried a Shuttle 9.0 and didn't like it for upright. I kept fiddlin' with knobs all night.
