New band audition

Decide what your musical and career goals are. If music is a hobby, pick the band you enjoy most and go with them. If time allows and you like both, do both. If music is your business, a cover band stands a better chance of generating income. Each band situation is unique, so travel time, personalities, number of paying gigs, etc. all factor into your decision. Hope this helps.
Check their website for any posts of their material. If they have songs posted, learn them before you audition.
I auditioned for a band 7 years ago and they had posted a concert performance on their site. So I listened to their set, made my lead sheets, and learned all of them.
At the audition they asked me to pick 4 songs. We ended up playing about a dozen.
And I got the job.
We just released our 3rd album last month.

There's some dependency on how you feel about your current situation. If it's getting stale, it's a no brainer to check out the new opportunity.
Even if it's not, my inclination would be to check out the new opportunity.
If it's a good fit, I'd try to do both.
If can't do both, follow your heart. But beware of the "grass is always greener" syndrome if you quit your current band, especially with an originals project. I moved on from a band earlier this year and am a little sorry about it watching them gig while I sit on the couch because my current band always seems to be in transition. I'm not going back to the old band (the reasons I quit were valid for me), am a little annoyed seeing their gig announcements cram up my Facebook pages...
Sure originals can be very rewarding but can also be hard to gig with and can be a lot more drama if the personality mix isn't great.
Get your data, weigh the pros/cons of each choice and make you best call.
