New bass advice needed...

I would also agree on the Stingray SUB bass, but they're no longer made so it might be hard to get a hold of one. I do know that they are coming out with a new line called Sterling by Music man (No not the sterling bass) to replace the OLP basses. Sterling Ball stated that they sound "scary good" and will go for around $500. From the looks of it they're making copies of the Stingray 4 and 5, Sterling 4 and 5, and some guitars as well. Might be worth your time to check these out. Here's a youtube clip of them...

Thanks to everyone who's posted something, its all been a great help. After trying many different basses at almost every dealer in my home town, the one which spoke to me the most was an Ibanez BTB550. It looks and sounds godly. I also picked up a bass overdrive pedal :smug:

Its not a five string, but I'm told I can do some modifications to get it drop-tuned with higher gauge strings.

Again, thanks - everyone's help was much appreciated :)
