I have just sent in my deposit for another 5 string, this one by Mark Garza of Garz Guitars (www.garzguitars.com).

Mark has built a few basses for me over the years and I find him to be one of the best in the business. I am really excited about this new build.

The specs are:

Alder body
Spalted maple top w/ black walnut accent wood between top and body
33" scale maple and wenge neck with a rosewood board and matching headstock overlay, tuned E-C
Basslines passive soaps with an Aguilar 3 band pre with passive tone control
Hipshot A style bridge, ultralight tuners (all black), black control knobs

Here is drawing of the body and a picture of the top. I'm not sure how long the build will be, I am anticipating about 3 months. I'll bump the thread when I get updated progress shots...

Hold on, there are 2 different drawings... a double cut and a single cut. Which will it be? I personally dig the single cut.

Anyway, that is a gorgeous top Bro! I can't wait to see the finished product.

The SC drawing was on the wood from the eBay auction just to show how wide the top was. It's a DC...

And by the way, that top was about $65.00 shipped!

Thanks... Mark is working on the neck this week while continuing to apply the coats of oil to the body. He usually does between 6 and 8 coats so it should be really gorgeous when it's finished. I just sent the final payment as well so as soon as it's ready I'll just have to wait a couple of days for shipping.

Sorry I misread your OP... You said another 5, so I thought you ordered 2 instead of already having 1 and ordered another... My statement stands, to be in your shoes!

I so wanna order another bass as well, but I just can't justify it at the moment - yes, I need justification. Specially the one I want is a Nordy which is a J that I already have 2 of (Fenders). I'm still holding out (dreaming really) for a Fodera Emperor II.

There is nothing special about my shoes...you are welcome to come and try this bass when it's finished.
