"New" Bass Day: 1973 Fender Precision

Found this little beauty for sale this week. 1973, "A" shaped neck, some checking for character. Tight neck pocket. 8.4 lbs. Swapped out the flats that came with it for some round wounds and I'm in a little piece of heaven...

My '73 P A-neck was natrual with the longer G string intonation screw. Does yours have that longer screw?

Time Machine!!!

The first "Pro" bass I ever laid hands on (loaner from the school band program back in 1974) was maybe a year old and looked EXACTLY like that one

Hi - yep. Was that a common feature?

The story was around that time the bridge on a batch was located a bit closer to the end of the body (for whatver reason) which made the standard G string intonation screw too short, hence the longer screw.
