"New" Bass Day: 1973 Fender Precision

A width (1.5") necks are rare for P basses. Congrats on the find.
Most in the 70s (well, starting like 68/69) are B width (1 5/8"). IIRC C width is the older, fatter nut width of 1.75". I had an A width neck I did not like mainly because I hate Jazz necks. I'm squarely a B width neck kinda guy.

When I think of the all-time classic looking P, you've got it. Congratulations! Damn fine bass!
I joined the 70's P club this year when I got my hands on a 76. Nice bass and great to see you got the case as well - mine was caseless, so had to buy a new case for it.
It came with Rounds - but in my head I always wanted an old P bass with flats but I'm enjoying it so much that I don't want to put flats on it - maybe I just need another vintage P bass for flats (try explaining that one to the wife!!!!)
I've read on TB that in the 70s Fender did a retooling and the bridge was mounted a bit further back from it's original mounting spot causing the intonation to be off. A longer intonation screw on the G string was needed to sharpen the string as it was flat with the original short screw.
Here is my '75, it's been repainted, hipshot bridge and tuners, dimarzio pickup (still have the original pickup and bridge + covers). Not original but I love this A neck.
Nice condition! I had a '75 with maple neck and ash body, tremendous bass, I should never have sold it. Congratulations.

Love the 70's P's! Yours is a real closet classic, looks so clean i could eat dinner off of it! I used to have a 76 P with an A neck, regret selling it but I was homeless so I had to haha. I currently have a 72 with a B neck, play it every day.
That's a beauty. I love my 76, very different beast and neck, but light and resonant.

Lol. Well, if you ever decide to go the flats route, I highly recommend Chromes or (if you want a slightly more aggressive tone), EB Cobalt Flats. Enjoy!
