New bass day!

Yeah, it's so strange we don't have more reviews on GC, Thomann, Sweetwater, etc! Seems like not too many people even know about this bass, at least from my experience. Anyway, yes, I was able to play it at the store before buying. The action was very low with fret buzz all over the E string but I knew it just needed a little adjustment from the bridge so when I got home I adjusted it and voila. I really like the fretboard and how comfortable it is to play, it has a very nice sound too. It can get fat and punchy or bright and sharp depending on how you setup the knobs, which btw seem to work nicely (which is nice for me, having had only one jazz bass and its tone knob went literally from 0 to max). I think the alnico pickups this bass has are american and the same they put on american G&L JBs, but I'd like to confirm that before being too sure. Anyway, it's a well-built bass, sounds really good, neck is comfortable... The only con I found so far is the weight (about 4.5 kg or 9.9 lbs) which is heavier than my SUB ray 5. That's strange to me for a bass with basswood body, but anyway, I personally don't give weight much importance, at least at this point in my life :roflmao:

I got this bass here from a store here Buenos Aires for 89,000 pesos (664 dollars). To me that was a great, great price, normally instruments cost us twice or more than the price you pay in the usa. Stores are now desperate to sell something during this pandemic and seem to have lowered the prices quite a bit.

I'll record some stuff during the weekend as a kind of demo to show you how it sounds if you want. As of now, all I have is this short clip from two nights ago messing around with both pickups' knobs maxed and the tone knob all the way up too. You might hate this clip if you don't like slap though! :laugh:

That's a great bass! If I ever get another bass it will come down to that one or a Fender Aerodyne Jazz (P/J).

I saw the other Tribute JB on the daily special about a month ago but it was the one with the maple neck and light blue (not metallic blue, rosewood board with block inlay) finish. I thought about impulse buying that one at the time (for $299.99?) but decided that I really wanted the one the op bought. It was a great deal though.
