I was about to order a G&L Tribute JB (the nearest store that had it was far from my place) but in the end I just went to the store yesterday and bought it. I guess GAS was too much for me to handle. Anyway, I'm loving this baby! It's comfortable, it sounds great and I can get a wide variety of tones from it. The E string needed a small adjustment from the bridge as the action was too low and had some fret buzz, but that was all. Here are some pics I took of my new baby (taken before I even pull the plastic out of the pickguard and mics)

Congrats! G&L's are the most awesome and underrated instruments on the scene. Best bridge in the business, hottest best sounding pickups, flawless craftsmanship, I just don't get it.....

I’ve always thought that G&L basses were highly under rated. I got an L1000 in 1979 from a distributor friend who claims that Leo Fender hand picked it for me and even if it’s not true, it’s a great story. Enjoy your beautiful bass!

Wow! Beautiful color!
Just give that low E saddle a 1/4 or 1/2 turn higher on each screw. That should take care of the fret buzz. Remember the low E string vibrates wider than the others.

Nice bass. The fretboard looks a little dry in the second photo. Some boiled linseed oil will take care of that and darken it up a bit.

I have the exact same instrument, very nice. The fretboard on mine also looked dry and pale, lemon oil did not change it. I think it is the type of wood. It is not rosewood because that now falls foul of some E.U. regulations concerning endangered tree species. I think it is laurel, could be wrong.

That's the one, thanks for correcting me. For what it's worth, my understanding is that exposure to u.v. light will darken it in time.
