New bass grounding issue?

Just got a new Fender Jazz Bass for my birthday and I believe there's a grounding issue with it. Whenever I'm not touching the strings I get a small amount of feedback. I've never had this on any of my previous basses. Any suggestions?

If you balance the pups at 50/50, the buzz should diminish significantly. Such is the way of single coil pickups. See if that helps and get back to us. We may also need to address shielding, grounding, outside interference, etc. BTW, exactly which model are we talking about?

if you touch the strings and the noise goes away, then there's not a problem.

you can make a project of shielding the insides of the thing and reduce the difference, but this is pretty much normal.

It seems like I can't balance the pups because of the way the bass is made
