New Bass Player

Hi All,
Just saying hi in the welcome forum. I've played guitar for years, current band bass player needs some time off.. so the other guitar player and I bought basses and have been learning. We split the set list in half and started at it.. played one house party already as a warm up... we survived.. lol... looking forward to diving deeper into the low end and getting more shows under my belt with it.

I picked up an Ibanez 5 string (GSR205) the week of Thanksgiving. I am using a DI pedal into mixer. I own the PA and have plenty of bottom end support, plus in ears for monitoring. So far I am enjoying it...what if i like bass more than guitar... im scared!!!

You are already caught in the bass clef.

Some hints, fret the notes with the pad of your finger s to work best, not the tip. This puts your wrist in the correct position and eliminates a lot of C T pain.

Less is more, follow the chords and play notes of the active chord. One note at a time seems to get what is needed. Roots, fives and eights
