Double Bass New Bass/Violin duo premiere

Wolgang von Schweinitz had the premiere of his microtonal duet for bass and violin, "Plainsound Glissando Modulation", premiere at Disney Hall's Redcat series, with violinist Helge Slaatto and German bassist Frank Reinecke. The LA Times described Schweinitz (who is professor of composition at Cal Arts) as a"neo-medieval" avant-gardist. The is structured by "regions" of the fingerboard, with drones and microtones. etc; With eyes closed, wrote Mark Swed "it could even be impossible to tell which instrument was playing what."
