Quite honestly it's not a traditional "jazz" sound, but not too hi-fi either. The preamp is quite musical and I really dig the mid control. I plugged her into my MarkBass LMK II head and ran it through one of the cab's I am beta testing (the LoPHAT 3 way 1x12) and it sounded amazing!! I am thrilled with the tones that I can coax out of her.
And what a 'B' string!!

I saw one of these @ Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas attached to Nathan himself~ on a dark stage, these basses stand out like a candle in a dark room. Put some LED's on the fretboard and it could double as a lighthouse!
There was a really nice picture of Lats with the bass, but too bad photobucket deleted it.
