It wasn't a commentary on anyone here, my man. In fact, considering what I've seen here occasionally, it hardly even qualifies as 'negative'. I'm glad there are decent, cheap basses available for kids these days. The ones I had access to when I was young were horrible. These apparently aren't? Fine by me.

I don't care for the way certain things happen with Rondo. I very seldom say anything about it at all, and what I said was pretty low-key.

I don't have anything to say about Sadowsky and, so far, very little to say about Rondo except when they attempted to steal designs from a friend of mine.

Hardly, but I do have opinions about basses other than my beloved Toilet Seats and hey, sometimes I feel like saying what I think. Go check my post again. I thought I went pretty easy on the whole thing and wouldn't have said much of anything else, I'm certain....but then you call me a 'turd burglar'.

I've played a few SX basses. I've chosen (except for the cheap Stingray copy) to stay out of the fray. There are apparently more than a few people here who think they're the greatest thing since sliced bread. Cool.

If once in a great while, I feel like pointing out that they're cheap copies of well-known designs, I think I can do that.

P.S. SX's aren't just for kids :D

I've never seen an SX, but I'm very skeptical about a $110 bass. Often you don't get what you paid for, but it's rare to get more than you paid for. But then I've seen the Squier Bullet and the Bronco Bass and they don't look bad for what they cost. Are they are about on par with the Squier Affinity series, and the Wal-Mart basses quality wise?

I consider myself very fortunate to own my Sterling HS and Thumb BO. If an SX floats your boat so be it and more power to you. I know that many Warwick owners look down on MusicMan and many MusicMan owners look down on Warwick. I personally don't care for the Fender USA models due to my perception of questionable quality, but other people like them.

I'm being a little anal here but I don't think a Precision Bass style SX should be called a P Bass. Like em or not, a Precision Bass is more than just a style. Just like the OLP Stingray style basses are not Stingrays.

+2. 34 year old kid here. With just under 20 years playing experience. With two SX's. I've also owned multi-thousand dollar instruments in the past, and currently my main bass is a custom Conklin. Take that, toilet seater! ;). I can buy 38.759 SXs for the cost of that Conklin. Would I bother pissing away the money on a few of them if they were KIDS basses dude? C'mon. :rollno:

Point I'm making is that these basses are not only intro or beginner's instruments. Just 'cause that's what they cost, doesn't make it so. Too bad the headstock whores (not directed at anyone specific) can't acknowledge that.

Much better quality than either of the above. I own, and have owned plenty of expensive gear, and these instruments give you more than your moneys worth. Played wagon loads of Squiers, and never bought one. I currently own and gig 2 SX SPB 62's

The official names of these are , for example SX SPB 62 or SX SPB 57. No one's ripping off the Precision name. P and J are very generic bass term used by manufatures at ALL price points to identify what they are. If some company were to use the name Precision bass or Jazz bass then I could see your point.

My Fender Precision is about as "real" a P bass as you're likely to run into.... and I have no issue at all refering to my SX's as P basses. That's what they are. More so IMO than some of the Squier branded instruments that use the full Precision or P-Bass name on their headstock.

That's certainly a fair question, but in another thread I'm putting together a spreadsheet with the weights of various basses. So far I've seen a number of Jay Turser JTB-401 basses submitted ('54 P clones) and I also own one. They're street priced under $150, and everyone who has one seems to like it. My faith is reinforced that today's inexpensive basses - SX, Turser, Rogue and others - can be extremely good values and great sounding instruments. I know mine sounds excellent, even compared to my '63 P.

SX basses are almost as cool as sliced bread

It's the price and the surprising decent-ness of the overall instrument that make them really cool. It's also nice to just have a nice foundation to modify without having to pay craploads of cash as others with more expensive basses that end up sounding the same.

I'll have to check out the site and see what new stuff is there. :)
