Yeah... the weird thing is that it only happens for the Drive toneprints, the comp ones work fine. Might try it with my iPad later

That doesn't make sense at all.. If possible, take it back to the shop and ask them to make it work. Maybe something has got corrupted. Perhaps reinitialise the pedal and reinstall the software.
Just to be safe: Bypass is disengaged? Beaming was failing for me at the store until the rep turned both bottom lights on...
On the comp dial, 1-9% seems to do nothing, and then at 10% there's a jump in sound shift and you can tell the composer engaged. I keep it at around 15-20%, otherwise the string noise seems more noticeable. I went back to the default, because I didn't notice butch difference between TonePrints (I'm still pretty novice, so I'm likely not playing to the pedal's capabilities.)
Actually, after trying the other Comp tone prints, I also went back to the default comp, and at 15% it works well, and doesn't squash the signal. I didn't get on with the drive until I tried increasing the output level and keeping the tubedrive and gain low, which gave a much more subtle effect. I think I preferred the Natural drive TP, but I'll probably revert to using the Clean boost TP as I don't need a 'drive' sound, currently.
I find that if I use a drive sound, I need to boost the bass a little, so for me the pedal is best used for one sound, rather than switching drive on and off. Still, its a great pedal, and quite underrated.

I know little about recording straight to computer other than using Audicity some 15 years ago in a mic'd setting so going DI will be a little different...
Do I just need to buy a DI->USB thingy and have recording software? Or is there more to it?
Edit: would this be all I need + recording software?

I just did this using the mic input on my laptop and Audacity. Went from headphones out on Spectradrive into mic input on laptop and adjusted level. Probably not the optimal way to do it, but it worked. I am not sure, I didn't try the USB connection, but I think that only works for Toneprint.
Thanks for the response, I'd always heard that running a line from headphone to mic would be too hot or something like that. If it's safe, I may have to try that.
For the USB input, I meant running from the DI Out (XLR) on the SpectraDrive to the USB on the Computer. My impression was this would give better sound, but I've never tried it. The link in my previous post is for a converter cable that runs from XLR female to USB. It's only ~$14 so I may look into getting it if that's the big expediture...

You need a dedicated audio interface, something like a Focusrite Solo would be an inexpensive solution.

I see this new for $160 on Amazon... I'd have to think about it. I don't need all the fluff that comes with it, I'm familiar with Audacity and plan to use that. I just figured that since the pedal comes with a DI Out I could simplify what else is needed for recording.
If I could run the DI straight into the computer, I could save some $$ and still sound decent.
Okay, found the Behringer U-Phoria UM2 at a much more affordable price... that might be more feasible atm.
Did you find somewhere that had it in stock? I've been looking for one for a week or so but it seems to be on backorder most places.

This is what I'm doing. I'm buying the XLR to USB cable for $15 and will return it if it doesn't work out, then I'll go UM2 hunting.
I'm hoping the cable works... It'd be great if I could just stuff it in the gig bag when I travel to avoid carting yet another device...
I use my Spectradrive's DI out (instrument lvl) to record via a Motu m2 audio interface. Works very well.
I used to have the Behringer UM2, but the latency was ridiculous.
Okay got my XLR to USB cable in the mail today and I've played around a bit. Trying to get the latency and buffering fairly tight.
I think it's pretty good now, well with in Audacity's recommended settings for latency. You can't listen to it as you play through, but the tracking lines up after the fact.
I'll keep at it (haven't used Audacity in probably more than a decade) to see about actual sound quality, but so far so good! Nice to know I have at least a very cheap and portable option for Audio Interfacing if I just want to lay rough tracks while on the road. For $15, it will tide me over until I need something better... *if* I need something better...

Hello Everybody. Just got a tce spectra drive. I have the spectra comp and love it but don't like the overdrive chnl on my fender rumble 40. Also, I'm still pretty new to bass and this site. I tried searching for my question but couldn't find anything on this site so I'm posting to this page. Currently Im using the default tone print and my settings look like the attached photo. Does anybody know how I could dial in a svt ampeg sound on this pedal? Or how the controls work for default setting?

Not sure how to dial in a specific cab sound with the SpectraDrive but you'll want to download the TCE spectradrive app onto your phone which you can use to send different comp/drive profiles to your pedal. If the stock profiles are too harsh, mellow, etc just look for one that might give you more of what you want.
Thanks for the reply. I have downloaded the app with all the tone prints and been testing the past 2 days with all the presets to no avail. I did find out some functionality changes how the knobs work for different tone prints but it's a bit confusing so I was either looking for advice on how to set the knobs to get closer to an Ampeg SVT Classic tone or how the knobs function in the default setting.
