New book on groove : Groove 101

Hi all ,

I 've been working on this book for 2 years now and do I believe this is the best book on the subject. It is in french AND english, and it comes with a DVD data that contains over 2Go of tracks that is over 1,000 tracks to work with. It covers a lot of styles from Blues,Rock,Jazz,Hip-hop,Funk,Fusion,Latin. There is a demo of the basslines then the drums tracks at several tempos to work on. This is the best book to work on your sight-reading,sound,vocabulary and your inner clock.

The levels are from beginner to advanced player and pros.

You can purchase the book and DVD directly here:

Thanks and let me know what you think of it.

On the link to the distributor there is one. Use the english version on the site. You can download a page.

In this book, I use standard notation and tabs that I edited myself for more accurate positions. Designed for 4 and 5 strings.
Just to sum up a bit: there are 4 chapters on specific subdivisions and exercices to work on each chapter, over 250 original grooves, over 1,000 specific drums tracks to work with. There is listing of every basses and mic-pres I used for each groove. 15 basses and 8 mic-pre from API to Neve to Chandler etc.

There is no book on the market like this one,for sure.

Sent you PM

Here is two samples of the chapter 1 and 3, so people can check it out.

This a very low resolution but you'll get the idea.

Plus there is a listing of all the basses (15) I used and the great preamps also ranging from Neve 1073, API 512 etc..This is also a great resource for tone. You want to know how a vintage P-Bass sounds like in a Neve or API? Here it is too.

Let me now what you think.

Also the book will be available in Europe in february and for the US about the same time I guess, but you can order from the site also for a faster shipping.

how about a TB group buy offer ?

This is an excellent idea!

I'll have to look into it but I can sell it directly with shipping included in North America. For Europe and other parts of the world I would have to look at the cost of shipping.

Since my bass site is not up and running yet, the best way for payment right now would with money order. I'll check with my editor what is the sale cost for US and make a fair deal for TB'ers.

Wow Sylvain!, I did not know, nor heard you had this book out...
I'm working on a lot of stuff right now, and I don't want to change focus just yet,
but your book is definitely on my Wish List.

Good stuff! Thanks for putting it out!

Salut Éric,

I have been working on this book for 2 years now and it is finally released and I'm relieve ;-). Now it is time to release the next one called Technique 101.

If you are on Facebook, there is an event for the book on my page and a blog I'm doing for the live tv show I'm playing on every saturdays also which is a great resource for bassists who want to know about studio and tv gigs.

Let me know if you are interested in the book. i think you'll have stuff for years to work on !

Sylvain

Thanks Sylvain, I'm already one of your facebook buddy, although I had not seen the event for your book, I just checked & left you a quick message.
I'm sure your Technique 101 book is going to be killer too, as I remember David Pelletier (now with Cirque du Soleil), who studied with you, mentioning how much you made your students work on their technique.
Congrats on the release of your book!
